TITLE: Regional Investigator
DEPARTMENT: Loss Prevention
REPORTS TO: Regional Loss Prevention Manager
Position Overview:
This is an entry-level management position. Successful incumbent will be assigned to a specific group of stores. Will assist the Regional Loss Prevention Mgr. (RLPM) assigned to this group of stores with internal investigations, exception report analysis, managing a team of store detectives and all other store loss prevention issues.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Supervise a team of plain clothes Store Detectives.
- Interview prospective candidates and make hiring recommendations.
- Provide training for them in all related Duane Reade ‘Policies and Procedures’ as well as departmental procedures and paperwork.
- Ensure they completely understand all local and State laws and Duane Reade policies relevant to their job description. (I.e. rules of apprehension, detention, use of force, chain of evidence, court testimony, Employee Rules of Conduct and sensitivity to union issues, etc.)
- Schedule and monitor performance. Provide adequate supervision to ensure the schedule is being followed and audit time keeping weekly.
- Ensure that the quality of the guard service being provided in each location is adequate and in keeping with the standards set forth by Duane Reade.
- Ensure that the guard company’s supervisors are routinely visiting the stores and meeting with management to review guard performance issues.
- Develop and maintain liaison with the local police precincts.
- Develop ‘sources’ within stores to gather information related to potential internal (employee) theft.
- Working under the direction and supervision of the RLPM, conduct internal investigations up to and including employee interviews.
- Routinely perform “Security Standards Inspections” during store visits. Said Inspections to include:
Ø Cash controls; including Pull and Drop procedures, Manager’s office and safe security, etc.
Ø EAS tagging compliance and equipment performance
Ø CCTV system performance
Ø Showcase and pharmacy security
Ø Register key controls
Ø Loss Prevention paperwork
Ø Any other aspects of store operations as directed.
Experience and Requirements:
- A minimum of 2 years experience in retail store loss prevention.
- Good communication, organizational skills, and interviewing skills.
- Formal interview/interrogation training (Reid or Wicklander).
- Strong investigative skills related to shoplifter apprehensions.
- A valid NY or NJ drivers license with a good driving record (a personal vehicle a plus).
- Must live in the immediate NYC metropolitan area.
