Specific duties include, but are not limited to:
· On a day-to-day basis, supervise the work of 3 payroll specialists with an emphasis on distribution of work, reviewing their work, and ensuring high-quality customer service to our employees
· Serve as backup for the Payroll Manager including coordinating and transmitting payroll
· Work with peers, management, employees and ADP to resolve escalated payroll issues
· Demonstrates continuous effort to improve operations, streamline work flows, leverage technology to automate work, decrease turnaround times, provide quality customer service
· Support the implementation of new systems by understanding current payroll processes and recommending changes
· Assist manager with special pay programs (i.e. bonus and annual salary increase information and third party sick pay).
· Calculates and prepares manual checks as needed
· Advises employees and supervisors on payroll practices and systems
· Create payroll reports and summaries
· Must have at least 5 years of payroll experience, with at least 2-3 years supervisory experience; experience with a large (4,000+ employees), unionized retail company is preferred
· Must have at least 2 years with ADP Enterprise; experience with a similar system will be considered
· Must be able to create reports in ReportSmith or similar report writer
· Must have experience with online time & attendance systems
· Must have knowledge payroll related law (e.g. FLSA)
· Experience with payroll Year-End process
· Must be able to interact professionally with all employees and possess good phone skills and strong customer service focus.
· Must be proficient in MS Word and Excel
